Qasimi is a London menswear brand created by Khalid Qasimi, who is the Creative Director too. He was born in United Arab Emirates and raises in the United Kingdom where he attains graduate of Central Saint Martins and the Architecture Association.
In his artistic development, Khalid Qasimi takes advantage of this dual instructions. On one hand, the Central Saint Martins brings technics and fashion sensibility, on the other hand the Architecture Association contributes to the use of volume on its garments and the space design during the fashion shows.
The 2017 year was extraordinary for Cottweiler, special guests of the Pitti Uomo in Florence, winners of the Woolmark Men’s Fashion Award, Ben Cottrell and Matthew Dainty are building a very strong brand’s identity. Last Seasons, the duo of designers developed their collections with two main themes, nature and streetwear.
The main element carried throught the Qasimi’s Autumn Winter 2018 collection is the story of checks. Used by various cultures around the world, both now and in the past, checks underline the interconnectivity between us all. Through the story of checks, Khalid Al Qasimi explorates how a pattern evolves or is given different meaning in their own socio-geographic context.
